Visas & entry
Do I need a visa? Passport rules, customs, and what you cannot bring.
Do I need a visa?
Citizens of many countries can visit Morocco without a visa for up to 90 days. This includes the European Union, the United Kingdom, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, China, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, most Gulf countries and many others.
Other nationalities need a visa. Many of them can apply online for an electronic visa (e-Visa) on the official portal acces-maroc.ma. Some nationalities may qualify for the e-Visa if they already hold a valid visa or residence permit for the USA, UK, Schengen area and some other countries.
Rules change: always check with the Moroccan embassy or consulate in your country, or the official e-Visa portal, before booking.
Special World Cup visa measures To be confirmed
Host countries often announce visa facilitation for ticket holders. Nothing has been officially confirmed yet for 2030.
Passport
- Your passport should be valid for your whole stay; at least 6 months of validity is strongly recommended.
- Keep a photo of your passport page on your phone and a paper copy separate from the original.
- Hotels and riads must register your passport details; this is normal.
Travelling between Morocco, Spain and Portugal
Morocco is not part of the Schengen area. If you go from Morocco to Spain or Portugal, you need the right to enter the Schengen area, and vice versa. Check that you have a multiple-entry visa if your nationality needs one.
Customs: what not to bring
- Drones: not allowed without prior authorization. They are usually confiscated at the airport.
- Moroccan dirhams cannot be freely imported or exported beyond a small allowance; change money in Morocco.
- Large amounts of foreign currency must be declared on arrival (keep the declaration and exchange receipts).
- Religious materials in large quantities, drugs, weapons and pornography are prohibited.
- Medicines: bring prescriptions in their original boxes.
